Oyam—28, July 2021: North Kyoga Region Police has recorded another murder case, bringing the tally to over 10 in recent weeks.
Ogwal Patrick, 40, becomes the latest Lango son to be murdered. He was a peasant farmer and a resident of Lela ‘A’ village, Pukica parish, Kamdini sub-county in Oyam district.
Omara Denis, 37 allegedly killed him. The accused is a resident of the aforementioned area with the deceased.
According to the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, ASP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the suspect committed the crime on 26, July at about 2000hrs. Police say Okwonga Bosco reported the case on 27, July at about 0830hrs.
Brief facts
Okema told media that it’s alleged that on 26/07/2021 at around 2000/c, the deceased was from Cam Kwan Ni trading centre where he was drinking from. “On his way home, along the way he met Omara Denis with whom he had an argument which resulted into a fight,” the Police spokesperson said.
“The deceased proceeded with his journey but along the way, he collapsed at the residence of Oyeng Norbert, who is the father of Omara where he died from.”
He said police took swift action and visited the scene of crime commanded by a team of detectives and SOCO (Scene of Crime Officers).
Postmortem had not been conducted at the scene, as of his statement on Tuesday. Omara Denis has been arrested and now in Police custody to support investigation.
Last week, Jane Oling blamed cultural leaders for the rampant murder cases in Lango. She vowed to arrest them for not taking up the responsibility.

“We will not get tired of letting people know about this continued murder cases in North Kyoga, but also we have noted with concern that people are not respecting COVID-19 restrictions like drinking which is leading to disagreement. Let’s be conscious of our lives.” Okema sounded the message.
