Karamoja ready to witness the 7th swearing-in of Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as president

The leader of the NRM for Karamoja sub-region, Northern Uganda, has congratulated President Yoweri Museveni ahead of his swearing-in on May 12 to lead Uganda for the next five years.

Speaking on Friday, May 10, 2026, on the floor of Parliament, the Karamoja regional NRM vice chairperson, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Matheniko County in Moroto district, Dr. John Baptist Lokii, announced that all NRM delegates across the nine districts in Karamoja are ready to set off for Kololo Ceremonial Grounds.

Dr. Lokii announced that all NRM leaders in the sub-region have expressed continued support, citing the need to protect gains made under the NRM government and secure the future.

He added that out of the nine districts in Karamoja, all invited delegates will attend the ceremony in person in large numbers because President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has achieved wonderful and great accomplishments for the people of Uganda, especially in Karamoja Sub-region.

Dr. Lokii said the establishment of a university is one of the benefits of the ruling party’s long-term commitment to transforming the sub-region. “This university is one of the gains of the NRM and must be protected,” Lokii told the gathering.

He praised the initiative for opening doors to learners who cannot afford university education elsewhere, stating that this university will help in mindset change and resolve decades of conflict in Karamoja.

In the recent election, Dr. Lokii John achieved a remarkable accomplishment by ensuring that all the NRM flag bearers succeeded alongside President Yoweri Museveni, who has successfully won elections in every district throughout the region.

Karamoja is now experiencing significant peace, which is a result of our country’s established security standards.

Karamoja sub-region is made up of Abim, Amudat, Kaabong, Karenga, Kotido, Moroto, Napak, Nabilatuk, and Nakapiripirit districts.
