Lamwo | At least 28 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates who achieved first-grade results in the 2025 PLE were on Monday February 23, 2026, awarded scholastic materials as they prepare to transition to secondary education.
The awards, part of a long-standing initiative by Lamwo District Woman Member of Parliament, Acora Nancy Odonga, aims to encourage academic excellence and support bright students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Since 2021, Acora has been rewarding top-performing PLE candidates across the district, making it a key part of her corporate social responsibility program.
“Education is the backbone of development. By supporting our children today, we are investing in the leaders of tomorrow,” Acora said during the ceremony at Padibe Town Council grounds. “From 2021 to 2025, we have awarded a total of 174 students.
She also promises to sponsor the top five S6 students of 2025 to university after the result is out. The initiative comes at a time when education stakeholders in Lamwo are calling for more support to ensure children complete primary education and successfully transition to secondary schools.
Abol Ludia, who got aggregate 7 from Cubu Parent Primary school and she was the best student in the district who received the awards expressed excitement and motivation to continue excelling.
“I feel very happy and encouraged,” said Ludia Abol, one of the awardees from Cubu Parent Nursery and Primary School. “These books and materials will help me study better in secondary school. I want to become a teacher and a professor one day.”
Parents were equally appreciative. “I am very proud of my child,” said Kavin Angwech, whose son was among the 28 top performers. “The support from Hon. Acora will help him start secondary school well-prepared. We are thankful for leaders who invest in our children.”
“This is a commendable initiative that promotes academic excellence in Lamwo,” RDC Oyo Robinson said. “We urge parents to continue supporting their children and encourage them to perform well in school.”
The Lamwo District Education Officer (DEO), Banabas Langoya, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in motivating students. “Recognition of excellence is a powerful motivator,” he said. “We encourage other leaders and stakeholders to join in supporting education in Lamwo.”
Obalim Richard Omo, the LC III Chairperson of Padibe Town council highlighted the impact on the community. “When we invest in education, we uplift families and communities. Hon. Acora’s initiative is a model for all leaders,” he said.
District Chairman who was represented by the secretary Production, Marketing and National Resource, Odur Justine Peace praised the MP for her continuous support.
“Education is one of our district priorities. Hon. Acora’s commitment to rewarding excellence ensures that bright students have a clear path to success.”
Looking forward
According to Acora, the initiative does not only reward academic achievement but also encourages other children to strive for better results. Acora noted that her office would continue monitoring the students’ progress in secondary school and provide support to ensure they complete their education successfully.
As the students of Lamwo prepare to embark on secondary education, the support from leaders like Acora offers both material assistance and inspiration to continue pursuing academic excellence.
“Education transforms lives,” said Hon. Acora in her closing remarks. “Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed. Together, we can build a future where no bright student is left behind because of lack of resources.”
With 174 students already benefiting from this program since 2021, Lamwo is witnessing a steady rise in the number of children achieving top grades, a development that has been widely welcomed by parents, educators, and local leaders alike.
