Joy and celebration filled Padibe West sub-county, Lamwo district after St. Joseph Comprehensive Secondary School posted a historic 100 percent pass rate in the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.
All 48 candidates who sat for the national exams passed, placing the school among the top-performing secondary institutions in Lamwo district.
According to the official results, the candidates secured 14 Grade As, 138 Grade Bs, and 313 Grade Cs — a strong performance across subjects that reflects consistent academic preparation.
The release of results sparked jubilation at the school premises, where students, teachers, and parents gathered in song and dance to mark what many described as a defining academic breakthrough.
School Director Samuel Kilama attributed the achievement to discipline, teamwork, and strategic academic planning.
“This achievement is the result of disciplined students, committed teachers, and supportive parents. Our goal has always been to nurture learners who excel academically while upholding strong moral values. Today’s results confirm that we are on the right path,” Kilama said.
He emphasized that the school has invested in recruiting qualified teachers and strengthening continuous professional development to improve classroom delivery.
“We focused on close monitoring of learner progress, structured revision programs, and regular assessments. Our teaching aligns with the competency-based curriculum to ensure learners are exam-ready and equipped with practical skills,” he added.
Headteacher Robinson Oyengolobo said early academic interventions and close supervision were key to the outstanding performance.
“We identified weak areas through continuous assessment and provided targeted support. Extra lessons, regular testing, and focused revision ensured that no learner was left behind,” Oyengolobo explained.
He added that teachers emphasized conceptual understanding, problem-solving, and practical application in line with curriculum reforms.
The school also invested in modern classrooms, ICT laboratories, and a well-stocked library, creating an enabling learning environment.
Students described the journey as demanding but rewarding.
Mwaka Charles Ocen, who scored Grade B (5) and Grade C (3), said the school’s supportive environment motivated him.
“Our teachers were always available to guide us, even after class hours. Passing like this makes me proud,” he said.
Auma Immaculate, who obtained Grade A (2), Grade B (6), and Grade C (1) credited discipline and teamwork.
“The school encouraged consistency, prayer, and discipline, which helped me stay focused throughout the year,” she noted.
Parents also welcomed the results. Okello Denis praised the school administration for maintaining strong communication with families through meetings and progress updates.
“These results show what cooperation between parents and teachers can achieve,” he said.
Lamwo District Education Officer Banabas Langoya commended the school’s leadership and governance.
“The school board has played a strong role in reviewing academic progress and approving strategic initiatives. I encourage other schools to adopt similar approaches,” Langoya said.
He noted that while secondary school performance in Lamwo is improving, greater attention must be given to strengthening primary education, which lays the foundation for future success.
Beyond academics, the school maintains strong co-curricular programs in sports, debates, and clubs to nurture leadership and confidence among learners.
“Our target now is sustainability, ensuring every candidate continues to pass with strong grades while expanding excellence in co-curricular activities,” Oyengolobo said.
Meanwhile, at Padibe Comprehensive Secondary School in Padibe Town Council, 73 students also passed the 2025 UCE examinations, with administrators describing the performance as encouraging and promising for future improvement.
With its 100 percent pass rate, St. Joseph Comprehensive Secondary School has set a new academic benchmark in Lamwo district, a milestone expected to inspire schools across the region to strengthen planning, teacher motivation, and community involvement in education.
