Speaker Among praises Kole North MP Dr. Acuti for embracing his role on health committee

The Right Honourable Speaker of Parliament, Annet Anita Among, who is also the National Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), has recommended the Kole North MP, Dr Samuel Opio Acuti, as the right candidate with whom the NRM government wishes to continue working with him in the next term.

The Speaker made these remarks on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Lango College playground in Lira City. She was addressing all NRM district and City chairpersons from the Lango sub-region, from the grassroots to the district levels, as the country prepares for the polls on January 15, 2026.

The National Vice Chairperson acknowledged Kole North MP, Dr Samuel Opio Acuti, before President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

She thanked the President for appointing him as the Vice Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Health, a move she said demonstrates the massive love the President has for the people of Lango.

Over 15,000 NRM leaders from across the Lango sub-region gathered to listen to their Chairperson and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who was meeting with all NRM LC1 flag bearers, village chairpersons, parish officials, sub-county chairpersons, district leaders, and all NRM parliamentary flag bearers from the region.

The Ajuri County MP and Government Chief Whip, Denis Hamson Obua, thanked the office of the NRM Presidential flagbearer, the 2nd National Vice Chairperson, and the Northern Uganda Vice Chairperson for organizing this engagement with grassroots leaders.

He called upon all NRM members to continue teaching the gospel of the NRM government to people in their communities.

Hamson Obua added that in the coming general election, Lango will vote for President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta with a massive victory.

He stated this is because the Lango sub-region leads the country in the number of seed secondary schools and health centers, and is also making significant progress in tarmac road connectivity.

MP Obua urged the people of Lango to trust President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta with their votes so that remaining pledges—such as tarmacking the roads from Lira-Aloi-Otuke to Abim, Aboke-Iceme to Bobi, and Namasale-Amolatar to Dokolo—can be fulfilled.

He noted that when the people of Lango requested Lira University, the Akii-Bua Stadium, and the upgrade of Lira Main Hospital to a referral facility, the NRM government under President Museveni accepted their requests.

While speaking to the entire gathering of Lango NRM leaders, MP Opio Acuti advocated for more votes for President Yoweri Museveni Kaguta and for all NRM flagbearers, including himself, as he gains significant momentum ahead of the election.
