St. Mary’s College Kisubi Old Boys Association (SMACKOBA) recognized what they called the outstanding leadership and service of Northern Youth Member of Parliament, Eng. Boniface Okot, during its annual awards dinner held at Hotel Africana in Kampala.
The prestigious event, which took place on Friday, December 5, 2025, saw MP Okot Boniface—the current NRM flagbearer for Kole South Parliamentary Seat—receive the Rising Star Award.
This accolade honours his academic excellence, dedicated public service, and exemplary leadership. Okot, a former top performer who scored a perfect 25 points in PCM/E at A-Level, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a Master’s in Diplomacy and Global Studies.
Currently serving as the Member of Parliament for Youth – Northern Uganda, Okot has championed numerous youth-focused initiatives.
These include reviving the Youth Livelihood Programme, distributing heifers to youth groups, advocating for tax exemptions for youth-owned businesses, ensuring equitable access to higher education loans for northern students, and driving infrastructure projects like borehole rehabilitation and rural electrification.
Speaking on his new mandate in Kole South—a constituency currently ranked lowest in service delivery within the Lango sub-region by the Office of the Prime Minister – Okot reaffirmed his commitment to transformation through improved infrastructure, youth empowerment, and accountable leadership.
The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, was also honoured at the ceremony for his distinguished military leadership and significant contribution to national security and stability.
The Uganda People’s Defence Forces issued an official statement expressing gratitude for the recognition.
In his remarks, Gen. Muhoozi congratulated Eng. Okot received the Rising Star Award, citing his talent, exceptional potential, and inspiring commitment to making a positive difference—qualities that embody the college’s motto, “Launch into the Deep.”
The General also urged voters in Kole South to support Okot in the 2026-2031 parliamentary elections, endorsing him as the right and fit candidate for the position.
Other distinguished alumni recognized during the evening included Charles Mbire, Chairman of MTN Uganda, and Prof. John Ddumba-Ssentamu, Chairman of the Centenary Group.
