YouLead summit 2025 postponed over Tanzania’s political unrest

The organizers of the YouLead Summit 2025, East Africa’s flagship youth leadership gathering, have announced the postponement of this year’s event due to the current political situation in Tanzania.

In a statement released on Thursday November 13 to partners and delegates, the organizing team said the decision followed careful consideration of safety and logistical concerns that could affect participants’ experience at the summit.

“We were eagerly looking forward to YouLead Summit 2025. However, following the recent political situation in Tanzania, it has become difficult to ensure a smooth and safe summit experience,” the statement read.

The organisers confirmed that the summit has been rescheduled to March or April 2026, with the exact dates expected to be confirmed and communicated in January 2026.

“We believe this is the most responsible decision at this time, as the prevailing circumstances continue to create uncertainty and concern,” they added.

The announcement comes as a disappointment to many young leaders and delegates across Africa who had already made travel plans and preparations to attend the regional event, traditionally hosted in Arusha, Tanzania.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused by the change, the organizing committee extended its appreciation for the patience and understanding of all registered participants.

“We also recognise that this change may be highly inconvenient for those who have already made travel arrangements, and we sincerely appreciate your understanding,” the organisers noted.

Participants have been encouraged to reach out to the summit team for guidance on practical issues arising from the postponement.

Despite the delay, the YouLead Africa Secretariat reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a safe and enriching experience once the Summit resumes in 2026.

“We hope to welcome you to the rescheduled Summit and remain committed to providing a safe and enriching experience for all delegates,” the statement concluded.

The YouLead Summit brings together young leaders, policymakers, and innovators from across Africa to dialogue, share ideas, and forge partnerships for regional development and youth empowerment.
