Two killed in tragic collision on Lira-Kamdini highway

Lira | A fatal road crash on the Lira-Kamdini highway has claimed two lives following a chain-reaction collision involving three vehicles.

The police in Lira City West Division say they have registered the fatal accident, which occurred at Amuca SDA along the Lira–Kamdini highway.

According to SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the incident happened on Friday, November 28, 2025, at around 11 am at the Amuca SDA area in Lira City.

Preliminary reports indicate that a motor vehicle, registration number UA 899BD, and a motorcycle, registration number UFG 387U, were both travelling from Kamdini towards Lira.

Upon reaching the Ebenezer University junction, the driver of motor vehicle UA 899BD reportedly made an abrupt turn onto the road leading to Ebenezer University without signaling.

The motorcycle rider, who was following closely behind, consequently collided with the rear of the turning vehicle. The impact caused both the rider and his passenger to fall onto the roadway.

Tragically, a speeding taxi, registration number UBR 493D, which was approaching from the opposite direction, then ran over the two victims. Police spokesperson Okema confirmed that both individuals died instantly at the scene.

Upon notification, a team of traffic officers led by the OC Traffic visited the scene. The two bodies were recovered and transported to Lira Regional Referral Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

All three vehicles involved were towed to the Lira City West Division yard, where they are pending an Inspection of Vehicles (IOV).

“We appeal to all drivers and road users to strictly observe road safety rules and regulations to prevent such tragedies,” stated SP Okema. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the bereaved family.”

The identities of the deceased have yet to be established as police continue their investigations.
