A former student of St. Gracious Secondary School in Lira City has been honoured as the best graduate during Muni University’s 8th graduation ceremony.
The event was held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at the university’s main campus in Arua City.
The outstanding graduate, Rwothumio Charles, who received a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, was announced by the Vice Chancellor as the overall best student, having achieved a First-Class degree.
A total of 481 students graduated from the university after completing their studies in various academic disciplines. The graduating class comprised 322 male and 159 female students.
The ceremony was graced by the presence of the State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite, who represented His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Minister Anite delivered the President’s message to the graduates and the university administration.
In his address, Professor Simon Anguma Katrini, the Vice Chancellor of Muni University, highlighted the institution’s remarkable growth. “Each year the University is growing from strength to strength,” he stated.
Professor Anguma recounted the university’s humble beginnings in 2014 with only 87 students in one faculty. He contrasted this with the current enrollment of 3,143 students across six faculties and 34 academic programs.
He further announced ambitious plans to introduce four more faculties and a total of 90 academic programs within the next five years.
Providing a historical perspective, the Vice Chancellor noted: “Our inaugural graduation ceremony was held in 2017, with only 77 graduates.
In 2018, we graduated 97, while in 2019, we had 107. In 2020, we graduated 103, and the numbers kept increasing until 2024 when we graduated a total of 317 students.”
The event marks another milestone for the West Nile-based public university as it continues to expand its training capacity in critical fields such as health sciences, information technology, education, and applied sciences.
University officials emphasised Muni University’s growing role in producing skilled professionals to support national development, particularly in the West Nile region.
