“I’m the only qualified candidate for Alebtong DWMP seat” – says Christine Ayo Achen

Christine Ayo Achen has declared herself the only candidate qualified to represent Alebtong district as its Woman Member of Parliament from 2026-2031, urging voters not to be swayed by monetary inducements.

Ayo made this statement during a rally on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Obim in Lwala parish, Apala sub-county.

The event, her second in as many weeks, drew a turnout of thousands of enthusiastic voters, signalling growing support for her campaign.

Addressing the crowd, Achen expressed unwavering confidence in her victory. “I want to assure you that I am going to win this coming election without any fear,” she stated.

“I urge you not to trade your votes for money because I am the only one who is qualified for this position.”

Central to her campaign is a manifesto focused on key community issues. Achen vowed to champion improvements in the health, education, and women’s empowerment.

She also pledged to support various savings groups across the district as a strategic means of “kicking poverty out of the community.”

The rally was bolstered by endorsements from local leaders. Patrick Okullu Okeng, the Alebtong NRM District Publicity Secretary who headed the rally, echoed Achen’s sentiment.

He criticised the NRM’s official flag bearer for the Woman MP seat, asserting that she is not qualified to represent the entire district.

Moses Okello, the LC1 Chairperson of Lwala village, promised to actively campaign for Achen. He criticised elected leaders for often forgetting the communities that voted them into power.

“Of all the candidates, Christine Ayoo Achen is the most qualified. She is a real mother who cares for and loves her people,” Okello said. “I am calling upon the entire district to vote for her.”

Okello also turned his criticism towards the area MP for Moroto County, Samuel Okwir Odwe, accusing him of abandoning his constituents since being elected.

“Our county cannot move forward because Okwir has never come back to us. We shall deal with him in the upcoming polls,” Okello warned.

He expressed disappointment, citing unresolved issues like poor roads and inadequate water supply. “Why are the roads in the neighbouring Ajuri County much better than ours in Moroto?”

The message resonated with the thousands of voters who attended the rally. Many promised to send Achen back to Parliament, stating they would not “waste their votes” on the NRM flag bearer, Dr Lakica Mercy.

This sentiment was repeated in Adag Wor village, Okwangole parish, where residents promised to deliver 90% of their votes to Achen.

They credited her with tangible support, including repairing water supplies, supporting women’s groups, upgrading bridges, and aiding local churches.
