Fr. Odwongo of Lira Diocese says faith is key to achieving God’s wisdom

The Curate of Uganda Martyrs’ Cathedral Parish in Lira Diocese, Rev. Fr. Stephen Odwongo, has called on the faithful to persist in prayer and to ask God for their needs with strong faith.

Fr. Odwongo assured them that God will provide everything they pray for when it is asked with a sincere and good heart.

He made this appeal while presenting graduates of St. Kizito Nursery and Primary School to the congregation. The event was the school’s 21st graduation ceremony, celebrating over nursery kids who have successfully completed their top nursery level education.

These kids will now continue their education in the primary section.

Fr. Odwongo also urged Christians to remember that God deserves our gratitude, encouraging everyone to continue praising God’s name to achieve His wisdom.

He also reminded parents that children are a gift from God, emphasising the importance of supporting their education as these graduates advance to the next level.

Speaking at the ceremony, Rev. Sister Susan Atoyo, the head of the School expressed her appreciation to the parents for entrusting their children to the school for the 2025 academic year.

She extended deep gratitude to the management, teachers, and children for a successful year without major issues, thanking them for their sacrifice and for strengthening the school’s mission of nurturing disciplined and God-fearing children.

“As a Catholic-founded institution, we recognise that education is both a ministry and a responsibility. We are called to nurture, shape the character, and form children who will grow in wisdom with both God and humanity,” Sr. Susan stated.

She also pledged the school’s continued support to parents during the holiday break. She offered the following advice: keep children safe at home, and mothers should dress modestly to set a positive example for the young generation.

She concluded by urging parents to guide their children to church.

St. Kizito Nursery and Primary School graduated a total of 155 learners from a total student population of 1,879.

Sr. Susan, therefore, called on all parents to protect their children during the holidays and to ensure they return to the school next year.

She specifically asked parents to avoid transferring their children to other schools and to maintain the discipline instilled by the school throughout the long holiday period.
