Aleka, Oyam North | Addressing residents of Lela Pala parish, Aleka sub-county in Oyam North on November 10, NRM party candidate for Oyam district woman MP seat promised servant leadership once elected in 2026.
Jane Frances Acilo obtained the NRM party flag after the August 17 primary elections in which over 60,000 delegates voted her.
Before that election and to date, Acilo continues to promise to empower households in Oyam, by creating initiatives that generate incomes.
Oyam, she often says, has huge potential to match other districts in the country, but has lacked pro-people and servant leadership for the last 15 years.
“I am happy today to start my campaign from home (Aleka). All good things start from home. I want you to be part of me, and what I will do for the people of Oyam,” she told enthusiastic supporters at Lela Pala primary school grounds on Monday.
“I distributed maize seeds at home here, to create wealth. I want to demonstrate how to eradicate poverty and increase wealth,” she added.
The leadership of Oyam, Acilo noted, should be people who look forward to a better Oyam. “For many years, as the NRM party, we have suffered in Oyam. We did not send an NRM MP to Parliament where resources are allocated.
“This time, it’s for NRM, and I am that person. I am a vibrant leader, not an empty tin. I say and do.”
On talks by some people that she does not speak (Leb Lango) fluently, she stated: “Maybe people say that because I did not grow up here, but I am from here. In Parliament, people speak in English, and I have English to speak for you.
“Even before going to Parliament to represent you, I have already done a lot, paid school fees, distributed maize seeds, and there is a ready market for it.”
In what seems to have turned the crowds on even more, she announced a profitable and available maize market for the farmers. “I have got the market for you. Just visit any of my offices across Oyam. The little amount you will get per kilo is shs1,000,” she assured the farmers.
She added: “I am a leader who does not segregate people in line with politics and religion. Jane Acilo is for everyone. Just elect a rightful leader.”
On the ongoing propaganda that she’s going to leave Oyam once elected in 2026, she stated: “Jane Acilo is going nowhere. We have a home in Aleka, Oyam.
“I have come to serve all the people of Oyam and to make it possible that Oyam grows just like other districts in Uganda.”
At Alibi market, Aleka, where she held her second rally, Acilo urged those eligible to vote to vote only NRM candidates from local levels to the President.
