At least 10 National Unity Platform (NUP) party foot soldiers arrested in Bar sub-county in Lira district early this week are now appearing before a Lira City Court.
They were arrested on allegations of causing malicious damage to a police vehicle, theft of a laptop valued at shs1.5m, among other allegations.
Initially, North Kyoga Regional Police PRO SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, said in a statement that 15 had been arrested. He later quoted the number to 10.
NUP party president and presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine on Tuesday condemned the arrest of his supporters, and the police raid on the hotel where he, and some of his campaign team members were residing.
tndNews can report that the 10 are now arraigned before the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Lira City this afternoon.
