Minister of Finance for Uganda Matia Kasaija is in Algiers, Algeria for the fourth edition of Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF 2025).

The Fair started on September 4 and will conclude on September 10. This year’s edition is a premier platform for trade and investment in Africa.

Organized by the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, the Fair has brought continental and global players to explore business and investment opportunities in Africa.

A statement posted on Monday by the Ministry of Finance said Minister Kasaija is in Algeria to woo investors to Uganda and also strengthen the bilateral relationship between Uganda and Algeria.

The Trade Fair is running under the theme: “Boosting Intra-African Trade for a Sustainable Future: Innovation, Value Addition, and Green Industrialisation.”

“The Uganda Free Zones and Export Promotions Authority is leading Uganda in showcasing Ugandan products available for export and also the investment opportunities available in Uganda,” said the Ministry.

This platform provides Uganda an opportunity to tap into the integrated African market of over 1.4 billion people with a GDP of over USD 3.5 trillion.

According to World Integrated Trade Solutions (WITS) which is part of the World Bank, Uganda’s total exports to African countries reached an estimated $2.02 billion in 2022, accounting for 56.54% of its total exports that year.

In 2023, top destinations for Uganda’s exports within Africa included South Sudan and Kenya, which together represented a significant portion of its exports to the continent.
