Nankebe

In a statement issued on Monday, September 8, North Kyoga regional police PRO SP Jimmy Patrick Okema said the territorial police in Apac district are holding a lady identified as Nankebe Susan.

The 32-year-old business lady attached to Nayanja bar located in Nabiswera trading centre, Budyebo County in Nakasongoa district was accorded refuge at Apac Central Police Station, Apac.

A resident of Budyebo, Nakasongola, Nankebe claimed that she was abducted by unknown people on Saturday September 6, 2025, from Rwabiata village, Rwabiata sub-county in Nakasongola district while she was on her way home from Nalukonge SDA Church in Rwabiata.

“That two men while driving a motor vehicle she couldn’t identify the number plate found her on her way home from church, grabbed and put her in the said vehicle where she found two other ladies with their faces covered,” SP Okema said, quoting Nankebe’s ordeal.

Immediately, she said “her face was also tied but before that she saw a pistol on the co-driver’s seat.”

Nankebe further told police that “they were driven to an unknown place in a house where they have been staying, six ladies who are all victims.”

She claimed that the abductors have been forcing them to use their phones to talk to their relatives to demand money. “In her case, the abductors were demanding six million shillings. All their phones were being kept by the abductors.”

Fortunately, today, September 8, 2025, she managed to escape when they were taken outside to bathe, SP Okema added in his statement. “She ran on a Lesu/half dressed and she kept on asking for the nearby police until she found herself in Apac CPS.”

According to the regional police PRO, Nankebe “confirmed not being mistreated or beaten although they didn’t give them food. She is currently at Apac CPS and efforts are underway to transport her back to Nakasongola.”

“Of late, this has become a common method people are using for survival means, we call for vigilant and timely reporting such that we get those culprits,” SP Okema stated.
