The wananchi of Olwio village, Kulu Abura parish, Chua trading centre in Minakulu sub-county, Oyam South have welcomed a major development in their areas.

Excited beyond imagination, the area wananchi witnessed the repair of three boreholes out of the 20 planned for Oyam South.

“All we did was major repairs,” Olum Sunday, campaign and mobilisation head of Team Opito Moses told tndNews on Sunday.

“The necessary spare parts are already on hand,” Olum added. “After the primary election, our candidate will shift his focus to more than 50 additional boreholes in Oyam South, as well as drilling new ones in various villages.”

“We need a leader—not just a politician who only tells sweet stories. We are looking for a God-fearing leader,” he stated.

Olum’s appeal matches a call issued by the Bishop of Lira Diocese, Rt. Rev. Sanctus Lino Wanok on Sunday to Christians at Lira cathedral.

“Vote wisely this time: Elect leaders not politicians. Leaders stay with you, and know your problems. Politicians stay far from you, and your problems,” the Bishop urged.

“Moses Opito embodies the qualities of a true leader, not merely a politician; he has a fresh vision for change in Oyam South,” Olum emphasized.

While addressing hundreds of residents of Myene and Minakulu sub-counties on July 5, Opito was told of the bad state of water access and scarcity in these areas. He quickly pledged to intervene.

On Friday, his technical team repaired a borehole in Alyec B Parish, Aber sub-county.

In addition to clean water access, and lifting the heavy burdens on the shoulders of mothers and children who walk long distances to fetch water, Opito has started distributing perennial crop seedlings to different groups.

He launched the program on July 5 from Akaka Parish, Aber sub-county.

Perennial crops like cocoa and plants like pines, he said, are long term investment and source of economic stability for the people of Oyam South.
