On May 2, thousands of women from Amolatar gathered to commemorate the belated International Women’s Day.
Dr. Agnes Atim Apea, the Amolatar woman MP, encouraged women to take on leadership roles, beginning with local council chairperson positions.
She also encouraged women to be diligent, mentioning that she had provided savings boxes to help them with their economic and financial development.
On that day, Amolatar women were encouraged to embody the characteristics of a good woman, emphasizing that the International Women’s Day celebration is intended for such individuals.
Dr. Apea, an NRM MP, advocated for an end to domestic violence, encouraging women to respect and love their husbands because mutual respect is essential for family harmony.
As elections draw near, she also asked for prayers for the district, pointing out that it is best to avoid the hostility and derogatory labels that frequently accompany elections.
Apea’s plan continues to prioritize education for children and the elimination of domestic violence.
Dr. Apea pledged shs1 million on May 2 to build a girls’ dormitory in Namasale sub-county, as requested by the local council, and also pledged to install a grinding mill at Nabweru trading centre.
Apea spoke to constituents gathered at Nabweru Primary School’s playground about her commitment to running for reelection in 2026.
Meanwhile, Peter Okodo, an aspirant for Kyoga North MP seat in 2026, also stated that anything given to a woman is likely to multiply.
