NRM in Lango endorses Museveni’s continued rule

Dozens of NRM supporters in Lango have endorsed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni Tibuhaburwa as the sole candidate for the upcoming 2026 general election.

The endorsement was announced on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Alanyi Primary School in Alebtong district, during an address by President Museveni to the people of the Lango sub-region.

Museveni, 80, was in Lango for a PDM assessment and wealth creation tour. He met and supported various beneficiaries of the government programs in the sub-region.

The Alebtong district LC5 chairperson Dickens Kennedy Odongo, expressed gratitude to the President for his unwavering commitment to national development.

He said what Museveni has done reflects the essence of true leadership.

Odongo recalled the establishment of Alebtong district from Lira district, noting that he became the first district chairman in 2010.

Widely known as “DK Odongo”, the Alebtong chairperson highlighted the significant developmental strides made in the district, citing the delivery of an ambulance by the Ministry of Health in 2013.

The ambulance, he said, has been instrumental in saving many lives.

Furthermore, he pointed out that nearly all sub-counties in Alebtong district now have access to electricity, which he described as a hallmark of development.

Regarding the Parish Development Model, Alebtong district has received over shs14 billion, benefiting 7,280 women (49.9%), 7,319 men (50.1%), 3,464 youths (24%), and 0.1% of persons with disabilities (PWD).

The Member of Parliament for Ajuri County, Denis Hamson Obua, who is also a government chief whip, commended President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for the wealth creation initiatives implemented in the Lango sub-region.

Vice President Jessica Alupo expressed gratitude to the people of Lango for supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government and President Museveni.

Alupo remarked that the people of Lango hold President Museveni in high regard for his exemplary leadership, which she believes is a blessing from God. She noted that the upcoming elections in January 2026 present an opportunity to vote for NRM candidates nationwide.

In his address, the President recounted that following the fall of Idi Amin’s regime in 1979, he commanded an army of over 20,000 troops and recovered more than 41,000 firearms from the Karamoja sub-region.

He emphasized that the number of weapons in Karamoja exceeded those possessed by both the Amin and Obote administrations. He asserted that he has restored peace in Northern Uganda and across the nation.

Museveni noted the four key areas essential for developmental progress: education, health, and infrastructure, among others.

He assured the crowd that the government is actively working on road improvements and expressed his desire to alleviate poverty, particularly for those living near the roads.

He thanked the people of Lango for their endorsement.
