Amolatar | The Legal Departments of the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Gender, Labour, and Social Development have intervened to ensure justice for the 14-year-old girl.
Isaac Angura, the driver for Amolatar District LC5 chairman Geoffrey Ocen Kiring, allegedly defiled the teenager on Wednesday, February 12.
The team, led by Mercy Kanyesigye, the National Youth Council’s Secretary Legal Affairs, arrived in Amolatar district on Monday, February 17 to follow up the case.
They paid a visit to the victim’s home in Olake village, Alemere Parish, Amolatar District. However, the victim’s father, Godfrey Odur, denied the team access to her and any information about the defilement case.

Kanyesigye stated that the Ministry became interested in the case after receiving reports that the suspect’s and victim’s parents attempted to negotiate a settlement with the police.
She warned against any interference in the case, stating that it is a capital offence that must be tried in court to ensure justice is served.
Kanyesigye stated that, as mandated, the National Youth Council will investigate the matter thoroughly and bring it to a conclusion.
They later met with Joel Ambrose Otema, the area LC1, who criticized the victim’s parents’ actions. Odur was accused of failing to report the matter to the LC1 office.
Otema said he was surprised to hear about the incident on the radio, especially since it occurred in his neighborhood.
He stated that aggravated defilement is a capital offense that should not be compromised.
The team then went to Amolatar Central Police Station, where Tweheyo Mable, the officer in charge of the Criminal Intelligence Department, informed them that the case had already been forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
If sanctioned, Angura is expected to appear in court on Tuesday, February 18, to enter a plea.
According to police reports, Angura allegedly defiled the girl in the bush on Wednesday night before being arrested and detained at the Alemere Police Post on Thursday.
He was later transferred to Amolatar Central Police Station, where he is currently detained.
A defilement case was opened at Amolatar CPS vide CRB 065/2025.
