Pakistani traders pledge to address Ngetta babies’ home water scarcity

Lira |Ngetta Babies Home, located north of Lira City, is currently experiencing a major water shortage.

This was revealed on January 10 by Rev. Sister Demmy Frances, who oversees the Home.

On the same day, she received a donation of various items worth shs1.5 million from the Pakistani Community Association in Lira.

Ngetta Babies Home is currently caring for over 37 children who were abandoned by their mothers. Some of the children have been reunited with family members, while others are being moved to various homes, including St. Mugaga in Jinja, Helps Uganda in Lira, St. Clare in Oyam district, and SOS Children’s Village in Gulu.

“I would like to assure the public that we are receiving abandoned infants from across Northern Uganda, many of whom have been left in unsafe locations such as toilets, rubbish pits, and bushes,” Sister Demmy said.

“Additionally, some of these children are complete orphans with no family members to care for them.

“I am appealing to other well-wishers to continue providing support for the home to ensure a secure future for these children, as we are still facing challenges related to medical care and food supplies.”
