12 wheelchairs for Erute South PWDs

Lira | Former MP Sam Engola handed out 12 wheelchairs to people with disabilities (PWDs) in Erute South, Lira district.

Engola, who is currently serving as senior presidential advisor on Lango affairs, urged disabled people to express their concerns.

Engola, a former state minister for housing, believes that doing so will allow people with disabilities to receive direct services from a variety of partners.

Ferdinand Acai Okello, a political assistant to Engola, said during the distribution of the 12 wheelchairs on Tuesday at senior quarters in Lira City that the initiative was the result of his boss’ collaboration with Community Focus International.

The collaboration, Acai explained, aims to improve the quality of life for people with various disabilities.

Acai stated that the wheelchairs are worth shs12 million, and Engola urged the recipients to understand that having a disability does not mean the end of their lives.

Engola, who is currently preparing for a possible re-election in 2026, has also promised to continue advocating for additional services from both the government and non-governmental organisations.

Benson Ocan, the executive director of Community Focus International, thanked Engola for his genuine leadership and concern for the community’s well-being.

Ocan encouraged the beneficiaries to prioritize their faith in God in all aspects of their lives, emphasizing that having a disability does not mean they have reached the end of their potential.

Ocan also expressed confidence that the wheelchairs would improve mobility in the community.

Engola received praise from Susan Akullu, a beneficiary from Agali sub-county, who called him a “true father.”

She discussed her previous difficulties in transporting her disabled child to school, but she is now optimistic that her child will be able to focus better in class.

The same-area resident Nelson Odwa thanked Engola, pointing out that many leaders have neglected the needs of people with disabilities for a long time.
