Amolatar told to play politics of love and integrity

Women

Amolatar | Former Lira district council speaker William Onyanga has urged Amolatar residents to engage in love and integrity-based politics.

The UPC party mobilizer Onyanga questions why politics has devolved into personal attacks and insults, particularly directed at women.

He advised male politicians to give women time to perform in leadership roles without insulting them.

Onyanga stated that the Ugandan government has given women equal opportunities to participate in leadership, and he questioned why a woman should be abused for wanting to compete with men.

On Tuesday, July 16, the former speaker spoke at a consultative meeting hosted by Collines Angwech, Country Director of Faraway Friends.

Angwech is also the Principal of Global Leaders’ Primary School, and she is running for the Kyoga County Parliamentary seat in 2026.

She said she accepted the people of Kyoga County’s request to represent them in the 12th Parliament.

The gap in Kyoga County prompted me to run for Parliament, she stated.

She asserted that there are inadequate road systems, inadequate infrastructures for schools and hospitals, and poverty among the community’s residents.

With her extensive lobbying network for goods and services, the UPC lady promises to bring about complete change in Kyoga County.

Onyanga told Kyoga County residents that Angwech is a sure leader who will advocate for all sectors of development.

Angwech cites the Oyam district, where qualified voters only sent women to represent them in the 11th parliament. She believes that Kyoga County has the best.

Oduru Isaac, chairperson of the UPC party for Acii sub-county, confirmed their full support for Angwech, stating that they will welcome anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Dr. Agnes Atim Apea defeated Angwech in her first political run in 2021. During her previous political campaign, she donated solar systems to all Health Centre IIs and IIIs in Kyoga County.

She has also donated solar lights to pregnant mothers as part of her project “let there be light and save life.”

She is also well-known for encouraging girls to attend school by providing them with pads.
