UPDF officers should take resource management seriously

Officers

Bombo | Lieutenant General Kayanja Muhanga, Commander Land Force, has advised officers to take responsibility for the resources assigned to them.

Muhanga stated that doing so is the only way for the UPDF to carry out its constitutional mandate and mission.

On June 12, Lt Gen Muhanga presided over the handover and transition of the Chief of Staff – Land Force office from Major General Jack Bakasumba, Chief of Joint Staff (formerly Chief of Staff – Land Force), to Brigadier General Michael Kabango.

The event took place at the Bombo Land Force Headquarters.

He reminded them that poor resource management leads to command issues and, eventually, the breakdown of day-to-day army operations.

Gen Kayanja warned officers that they would be held accountable by both the leadership and Parliament, which allocates resources.

Maj Gen Bakasumba thanked the UPDF leadership for the opportunity to serve as Chief of Staff – Land Forces, as well as their ongoing support and guidance, which allowed him to complete his duties.

“I will indeed remain indebted for all of the guidance and support provided to me in the performance of my duties,” he stated.

Brig Gen Kabango, the incoming Chief of Staff – Land Force, thanked the UPDF leadership for entrusting him with the role, as well as his predecessor for providing good mentorship.
