Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng @56: Her contributions to Lira City under trade, industry, and tourism

Lira | A resourceful public-sector leader and manager was born 56 years ago. This person would gradually but graciously advance, beginning her public service as a hospital administrator at a young age.

She would be politically mandated to become Lira City’s first elected female MP in Parliament.

Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng Ocero, a key member of the ruling NRM party, has mobilised, nurtured, and preached unity among the Movements, including the business community.

The business community in Lira City is made up of both men and women, as well as young people with varying political views, but MP Dr. Aceng has been able to bring them together.

Here are the 56-year-old public servant’s accomplishments during her nearly three years as an MP.

MP Dr. Aceng has mobilised and encouraged the communities to donate land for the development of an industrial park for the Lango sub-region at Aler farm.

This was done to protect them from disruptions and guarantee that their work would proceed as usual. She has helped to train the communities (members). This society has over 300 members in Lira City.

She mobilised and hosted over 300 businessmen and businesswomen from all sectors of Lira City, discussing issues related to the city’s growth and development. She has worked with the business community to find ways to mitigate the challenges that their businesses face.

She also expanded the scope and quality of Lira’s trade fairs, staging world-class trade shows and exhibitions by inviting international manufacturers and entrepreneurs to showcase their entrepreneurial skills in Lira. This was done in close collaboration with the business community.

Her leadership and lobbying skills have encouraged investors to invest in Lira City. Universal Granite and Marble factory for tiles, which is currently located in Lira City, is one example. The factory is situated in Anyalo Cell, Barapwo Ward, Lira City West Division.
