Lira chamber of commerce and industry to hold GM Friday

Lira | The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Lira Chapter will hold its first-quarter general meeting this week.

According to the Chamber’s chairperson, Dr. Morris Chris Ongom, the meeting will be used to highlight issues affecting businesses and the Lira City business community.

In a message to tndNews, he stated that further engagements with Lira City Council, National Social Security Fund (NSSF), Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), UMEME, and National Water and Sewerage Corporation will take place.

The meeting on Friday will be held at the Margaritha Palace Hotel in Lira City, with an arrival at 1 p.m., Dr. Ongom said.

He was elected as the new chairperson of the Chamber in October 2023 with 58 votes. Fred Doi was also elected the vice chairperson.

Other officers include Awor Christine, secretary, Johnson Ocol, treasurer, and Isaac Ogwal, coordinator.

A month after taking office, the Chamber and Transformation Business Africa signed an MOU to jointly support Lira branch members with capacity development and mentorship, investment readiness, and capital facilitation.

The Memorandum of Understanding will last for five years.
