Pader – February 11, 2022: Police detectives from Pader Central Police Station are investigating circumstances under which Odokonyero Alex, 23, was stabbed before he passed on.
The deceased is a resident of Gulnam Ward, Pader Town Council in Pader district. He was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife using a knife. The deceased’s wife, Alcidi Jessica, 22, has been arrested.
The incident was recorded at Pader Central Police Station under VIDE CRB 55/2022 on Wednesday, February 9.
Nyeko Simon, one of the eyewitnesses alleged that on February 9, 2022, at around 12:35 pm, the two had a domestic quarrel which resulted in a serious fight. Soon, he said the wife stabbed her husband with a knife and left him fighting for his life.
The deceased was rushed to CCF Health Center for medical attention but succumbed on arrival due to over bleeding.
Police detectives had earlier documented the scene of the crime and recorded statements from relevant witnesses to guide their investigation.
The postmortem was done and the body was handed over to relatives for burial.
Police are now cautioning members of the community against taking the law into their hands by taking someone’s life.
David Ongom Mudong, the PRO Aswa River Region said the crime has become common in Uganda. “The law does not allow someone to take someone’s life at his or her intentions as you will face the Court.”
Mudong, however, advised the public to involve relevant local leaders and other stakeholders in solving domestic-related challenges.
