Pader – February 11, 2022: Pader district local government has on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 sworn-in over 400 new workers.
The recruits took oaths at the district headquarters.
The 431 workers comprise teachers, clinical officers, heads of departments recruited between October 25, 2021, to December 20, 2021.
Pader district chief administrative officer (CAO), Alex Chelimo stated that there were some delays due to limited funding needed to facilitate the services of the district service commission (DSC).
Chelimo also added that there were delays from the resource persons needed to interview the applicants. “The induction is a process that builds one to begin work, and be ethical without fear, favor, or discrimination,” he said.
“One risks dismissal or disqualification from the public job/office since the probation period is up to six months,” Chelimo warned.
He further urged them to be mindful of confidentiality.
Pader district chairperson, Fearless Obwoya Oyat congratulated the process of swearing-in of the workers, saying that there were reported elements of corruption that took place during the recruitment process.
Obwoya made these claims while giving his speech to the workers who listened attentively.
“I was told that some of you bribed to get a job, if you know you were among such people reveal and your money will be refunded,” Obwoya added.
He disagreed with CAO’s advice to the workers, saying, “This information are public documents and must be publicly consumed.”
However, Chelimo in his response refuted the allegations levied by the district chair that the recruitment process was marred with corruption.
“I have not received any money from any applicants during the recruitment, and I think the statements he gave are not true because no corruption issues were reported to my office,” Pader’s Chelimo told TND News.
