January 19, 2022: Thousands of words have been spoken, dozens of statements released and countless in-person meetings between Lango leaders and government executives took place in recent months.
All the above happened in trying to follow up or understand the government’s position when it comes to service delivery and fulfiling pledges to the people of Lango sub-region.
Lately, the issue of community access roads (CARs) and lethal Lira-Kamdini road have been central to any discussions among Lango natives. The highway (Lira-Kamdini) is under the central government and UNRA is fully in charge of it.
The pothole highway has killed dozens of people; many are now disabled and motorists have wasted a lot of money on vehicle repairs, among others.
Now that the sub-region seem to believe that the government is not ready to work on the highway and construct other roads, the leaders: both political, religious and cultural must come together and rally behind those they lead or serve.
A united voice break walls. We encourage the population to listen to their leaders and to believe that the government is working to rescue them.
Leaders should encourage the population to desist from using violence. This is a good call, it should be peaceful.
