EFOTI has made massive reforms since arriving in Zombo district nearly four years ago; it has brought (tea) farmers together, revived their tea plantations, enhanced their capacities, among others.
Zombo – 17, March 2021: Tea farmers and different stakeholders in Zombo district (Northern Uganda) will undergo a one day training on tea growing.
The Edwin Foundation Tea Initiative (EFOTI), a company with good records in tea farming, tea research, nursery bed establishment and management, value addition, to mention but a few, says she will collaborate with Zombo district local government.
The one day training takes place 20 March 2021 at their demonstration garden (tea estate) in Zeu sub county, Zombo district.

They invite “all farmers” who are growing tea, and “those interested in tea growing” to come for a one day hands on training on: tea management, how to harvest tea; green leaf handling and marketing.

According to Mr Atukunda, Freedom Tea Garden owned by Northern Uganda State Minister, Grace Freedom Kwiyucwiny will host the training.
Gulu and Nwoya are some of the districts in Northern Uganda who have shown interest in tea growing, with the former moving ‘big miles’ in the project.
Gulu district leadership, Ker Kwaro Acholi, Prime SACCO, Lugore Prisons and Gulu University all support tea growing.
The University and EFOTI late last year (2020) signed a five year agreement to expand and promote tea project in Acholi sub region. Preliminary activities have started, according to a report.
