Thirteen new Covid-19 cases confirmed on Friday

National—August 8, 2020: On Saturday, 8 August 2020, the Ministry of Health confirmed 13 new Covid-19 cases from samples tested on Friday.

To date, Uganda has recorded a total of 1,267 cumulative confirmed cases.

One truck driver arrived via Ngomoromo in Lamwo district. Three were contacts to previously confirmed cases: 1 from Kampala, 1 from Nakaseke and 1 from Ngora districts, respectively.

Six were alerts: 2 from Kampala, 1 from Kisoro, 1 from Sheema and 2 from Wakiso disticts.

Also, 3 were returnees: 2 from South Sudan and 1 from DRC.

In its press releases dated 8, August 2020, the Ministry says 19 foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19 at the border points of entry and their entry into the country was not permitted.

Cumulative recoveries in Uganda is now 1,115.

1,398 samples from Points of Entry were tested on Friday, and 1,298 samples from alerts and contacts.

A total of 2,696 samples were tested on the same day.

Meanwhile, six people have succumbed to the virus in Uganda in less than three weeks. The Ministry of Health continues to advise Ugandans to be vigilant, while observing guidelines like wearing facemask, washing hands with soap, in addition to sanitizing.
