Pearl of Africa’s virus cases surge to 657 as 11 more test positive on Monday

Kampala—9, June 2020: The Ministry of Health on Tuesday afternoon confirmed 11 new Covid-19 cases for Monday.

According to the Ministry, all new confirmed cases are Ugandans. There are now 657 total confirmed Covid-19 cases in Uganda.

“Five (5) of the confirmed cases are truck drivers from Malaba and Elegu, six (6) cases are among contacts and alerts from Amuru and Kyotera districts,” the Ministry’s statement reads in part.

It adds that all samples of health workers tested negative for Covid-19 on Monday.

Thirty-four (34) foreign truck drivers tested positive for Covid-19 and were handed over to their respective countries of origin.

Uganda’s total recoveries now at 118 with zero related death.

Summary

On Monday, 1,412 samples from Points of Entry were tested

878 samples were tested from alerts and contacts

46 samples from health workers were tested and a total of 2,336 samples were tested.
