Kampala—26, May 2020: On Monday, the Ministry of Health confirmed 10 new novel coronavirus disease cases, out of 1,189 samples tested.
The total COVID-19 confirmed cases are now 222, according to the Health Ministry.
It further added that nine [9] new cases were from the Points of Entry, while one [1] new case is a contact to a previously confirmed truck driver.
“The contact was under quarantine at the time of test.”
Thirty [30] positive foreign truck drivers were handed over to their country of origin, Ministry’s statement reads.
Uganda has 69 COVID-19 recoveries.
On Monday, 1,037 samples were tested from Points of Entry; they also tested 152 samples from community and contacts.
With extended lockdown, Uganda’s private car owners have resumed transportation amidst strict police rules.

A fortnight ago, the Ministry of Health launched a new health campaign dubbed #Tonsemberera. Loosely translated as “Keep Your Distance”, the campaign demands that every Ugandan must observe a four meter distance while in public.
This is on top of a mandatory wearing of facemask for everybody in public.
The Ministry believes that by everyone obeying social distance [#Tonsemberera], the country will fight mass infections and virus spread among the community.
