BREAKING – Lira: 13 contacts test negative for COVID-19, to be discharged

Out of more than 30 contacts [people] who were isolated in Lira Municipality two weeks, 13 will be discharged today.

The 13 contacts were quarantined at Lira School of Comprehensive Nursing and Midwifery.

They were suspected to have interacted with one of the Ugandan truck drivers who had tested positive of novel coronavirus, COVID-19. The truck driver had stopped in Lira town

They [the 13] all tested negative twice, TND News has learnt.

Dr Edmond Aceka, the Assistant DHO Lira confirmed the development in an interview with this contemporary publication on Monday afternoon.

Ministry of Health has launched a new campaign dubbed “TONSEMERERA”. This campaign, loosely translated as “Keep Your Distance”, is aimed at rallying all Ugandans to keep social distance of 4 meters in a place with many people.

The campaign is expected to run for more than 30 days.
