Uganda confirms 11 new cases of COVID-19

On 23, April 2020, the Ministry of Health confirmed 11 new positive cases of COVID-19 from 1,020 samples tested from truck drivers at border points of entry.

According to the Ministry, all 311 samples taken from the community and quarantine centres tested negative for COVID-19.

On Thursday, a total of 1,331 samples were tested at the Uganda Virus Research Institute. “None of the cases registered today had signs and symptoms consistent with COVID-19,” Dr Henry G. Mwebase said in a press release.

“The Ministry of Health appeals to general public to remain calm, but vigilant,” he added.

Summary.

🔺6 Tanzanian truck drivers who arrived via Mutukula Border post.

🔺5 Kenyan truck drivers; 3 arrived via Malaba and 2 arrived via Busia.

🔹Total Confirmed Cases of COVID-19 in Uganda is now 74.

🔸Total COVID-19 recoveries in Uganda: 46.
