Suspected killers of Kole man, 45, involve his ex-wife
Okello Francis, 45, was found dead in a swamp in Kole district.
Kole | Authorities in the Kole district are currently investigating and looking for Adong Agnes and an unidentified male who went missing after Francis’ body was discovered in the swamp.
The incident happened in Adwir village, Bar Akalo parish, Akalo sub-county, Kole, according to police reports.
In his report, North Kyoga Region Police PRO SP Jimmy Patrick Okema stated that the crime allegedly occurred on the night of November 27, 2024, at an unknown time.
On November 28, at 11:30 a.m., Awelo Colin reported it to Adwir’s LC1 Otuku Denis. Otuku then referred the matter to the Akalo Police Station.
On November 28, 2024, at around 9:30 a.m., Awelo Colin went to inspect her rice in the swamp.
“Upon arriving at her garden, she noticed an abandoned jacket and, upon further inspection, discovered a body floating in the shallow water of the swamp, approximately 10 meters from the jacket.
“Awelo Colin promptly informed the chairperson of LC I in Adwir village, Bar Akalo parish, who then reported the incident to the Akalo police station,” said SP Okema.
The Akalo Police Station has opened an investigation into a suspected murder.
“A search of the deceased’s residence yielded several items, including clothing belonging to Adong Agnes (the deceased’s wife), two animal horns (one from a cow and another from an unidentified animal), and some dried local herbs.
“The body of the deceased has been transported to LIRA Regional Referral Hospital for a postmortem examination,” the Police PRO said on Friday.
Okeme added that preliminary findings indicate that the deceased had been separated from Adong Agnes for 15 years due to domestic disputes, despite having two daughters together.
“Adong Agnes had recently returned home and discovered that the deceased had remarried, allegedly resulting in a confrontation in which Adong chased away the new wife.”
She has unexpectedly become a witch doctor, with a man assisting her in her practice, resulting in three people living in the same house.
According to Okema, both individuals have since vanished, and if they were not involved in Okello Francis’ death, it begs the question of why they fled.
