UPDF helicopter crew killed in Ntoroko

Ntoroko I On Tuesday, Jan. 2, UPDF said it lost its airforce helicopter gunship in a fatal crash in Ntoroko district in the afternoon. 

In an additional statement released on the same day by Defence Spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulyaigye, the crew and a civilian on whose house the helicopter crashed all died.

“Experts shall investigate details of the accident. Identities of the crew shall be made available after informing the next of kin,” Big Kulayigye added.

“The crew died heroes as they participated in the struggle to pacify our western frontier of the dreadful ADF terrorists,” he concluded.

This is not the first time that the UPDF helicopter has crashed. In 2023, a UPDF helicopter crash landed in Karamoja.


The victims have been identified as John Mukidi of Nyamisigiri village, Ntoroko district.

His house was smashed by the helicopter who also killed 2nd Lt. Tukamuhabwe Allan Kapando and another officer, Aroma.
