Lira, April 1, 2022: Twelve days after he died in the United States of America, the casket containing the body of the former speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah landed in the country on April 1.

Oulanyah’s mysterious death is still a great concern to the population and his family. He is the first speaker of Parliament to die in office.

He died at 56. The former Omoro County MP will be laid to rest on Friday, April 8, in Lalogi, Omoro district.

Speaking to this digital newspaper on April 1, the former Oyam South MP, Ishaa Otto Amiza said: “As we welcome the body of our late brother and Hero, the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah (RIP), we must show restraint and humility in mourning our dead.”

“We must not allow our haters and strangers to derail us from mourning our fallen brother and Hero,” he added.

“In a few days we shall lay our bother to his final resting day, on that day, I urge all of you mourners of Lango and Acholi and indeed all the mourners who are in solidarity with the family of the late JACOB OULANYAH to wear or dress in WHITE AND BLACK but never to put on YELLOW AND RED.”

“Never Dress and Wear RED AND BLACK. That’s the only thing we can demonstrate to show our love and grief for our late brother and Hero. May His Soul Rest in Peace.”

The deceased was President Museveni’s NRM national vice chairman of Northern Uganda, a position, together with that of the speaker of Parliament he enjoyed for less than a year.

The burial of the former speaker will cost shs1.2 billion from the initial costs of shs2.5 billion.
