Kampala – 16, November 2021: The Parliament of Uganda has advised its staff and Legislators outside the House to stay at home.
The decision follows two separate deadly bomb explosions on Tuesday morning in the Capital, Kampala. One blast happened along Parliamentary Avenue and left some cars burned to ashes.
Another blast took place at Kooki Towers opposite Kampala Central Police Station.

Access to Parliamentary Avenue is now restricted.
In an internal memo to all MPs and staff dated 16, November, Clerk to Parliament Adolf Mwesige Kasaija, wrote: “I have been instructed by the Rt. Hon. Deputy of Parliament to inform you that there will be no sitting of Parliament today.”
“You are advised not to proceed to the precincts of Parliament as security forces are working hard to restore order around Parliament. Until you are advised otherwise, please keep at home and those in the precincts of Parliament keep calm and wait for advise on how to exit.”
Scores are reported to be wounded by the twin blasts. Over ten ambulances were dispatched for evacuation to different health facilities within Kampala.
Preliminary reports say six people have died, including two police officers. Eight wounded, and investigations continue.
