Seoul I The Jeong-eup branch of the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG), together with the Sonamae Association, donated free jjajang to the athletes and residents who attended the ’53rd National Youth Sports Games Jeonbuk Special Autonomous Region Wrestling Team Selection Competition’.

The event took place at the Tasan Seonbi Cultural Village in Chilbo on March 23, 2024. 200 residents and wrestlers attended the event.

The event was organized by the Pine Tree Society (Chilbo Shishin Gak and Juche Arisan Chinese Federation) as a regular practice of sharing free jjajang with 150 athletes and residents of the wrestling team in Chilbo.

At the Chilbo Tasan Cultural Village Wrestling Hall, Jeonbuk Wrestling Association Chairman Park Chung-ki and Wrestling Director Kim Si-young expressed their gratitude to the volunteer organization for providing the jjajang.

The donation benefited children during the preliminary rounds of the Jeonbuk wrestling representative competition to select the wrestlers for the awards ceremony and the main competition.

It was a fun and happy time to be able to serve together at such a meaningful event that promotes the local community,” said Kim Miae, the branch manager.

A parent of an athlete who attended the event said, “The jjajangmyeon was light and delicious for my children,” and “I wish we could have such an opportunity often, as the pleasant place and sunny weather made it more fun to eat.”

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve free jjajang at a place that promotes the cloisonné,” said Jeong Tae-ki. “We will continue to hold warm sharing events with members of the Jeong-eup branch of IWPG to create a community that lives together,” she said, asking them to join the event in April.
