Speaking as the chief guest during the meeting, NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong said their plan is now to kick start different activities and boost all the party officers across the country before the general elections of 2026.

The meeting took place in Otuta village, Abeli parish in Akalo sub-county. A number of challenges affecting the locals in Kole South like the dearth of clean water, low access to electricity and lack of market for the locals’ commodities after harvests were laid out to the party boss.

Since Kole district’s official operation on July 1, 2010, NRM has had little dominion on the district’s South County. But, Todwong is now encouraging the youth and the people of Kole South to endorse Northern Youth MP Boniface Henry Okot for the seat.

Towdong has also indicated support for the youth MP in his subsequent political challenge.

Kole district has 692 villages, 41 parishes and 10 sub-counties, including town councils, according to Carafino Odoc, the administrative secretary of NRM for Kole district.

Odoc, during the meeting, said Okot is “a young man with a bright future who can push Kole South in the map of this country”.

MP Okot in response said the leadership of this country needs young generation, adding that the 11th Parliament has lost “strong popular leaders” who “need to be replaced by young people”.

Kole South is currently represented by Peter Ocen Akalo of the Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) party.
