An unknown man cut to death in Lira city

Lira | The 20th murder case has been recorded in Lira City, again.

As reported by this same publication on January 18, the North Kyoga Region recorded 18 murder cases from December 2023 to January 18.

The 19th case was recorded a day later. Now, here is the 20th.

According to the North Kyoga Region Police PRO, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the territorial Police in Lira City West Division are investigating circumstances under which a person yet to be identified was killed.

The deceased’s neck was cut and the body was dumped around Obutuwelo ‘A’ cell, Ojwina B ward Lira City West Division.

“This report was registered at Juba Road Police by Apeto Bonny, 34, a resident of Ireda Samba cell, Lira City West Division,” SP Okema told tndNews.

He added: “It’s on January 19, 2024, at around 0800 hours when a team of Police officers led by the Deputy OC CID Lira City West Division Station booked out on information to the scene that there was a dead body of an unidentified person lying along the road.”

Preliminary findings indicate that on the night of January 18, 2024, unknown people killed this person by cutting him around the neck using a panga, then later dumped the body along Okot-Ogong Road, at Abutuwelo ‘A’ cell.

“A case file of suspected murder has been registered at Lira City West Division, the deceased body was conveyed to Lira Regional Referral Hospital’s mortuary pending a postmortem report.

“A panga with blood stains suspected to have been used to kill the deceased was recovered at the scene.

“The deceased was dressed in a black trouser, black canvas shoes and white jumper,” the PRO said.
