Alebtong | The territorial Police in Alebtong District say they are investigating the suspected death of a 16-year-old boy who drowned in River Moroto.

The deceased name was identified as Solomon Ojok, a resident of Teo-Okangi village, Alango parish, Alango sub-county in Otuke district.

As the investigations go on, it’s alleged that on December 20, 2023, at around 8:00 hours in the morning, Ojok Solomon who until his death was an epileptic, went to the bank of River Moroto to wash his face.

He was carrying an empty mineral water bottle.

While there, he got attacked by the sickness and fell off into the water, drowned and died.

SP Jimmy Patrick Okema, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson, said a report was registered at Abia Police Station at around 9:00 hours by Okello Lameck.

He added that after the matter, immediately Police went and visited the scene, examined and documented it.

“Some statements were recorded from the relatives, and the body was retrieved and conveyed to Alebtong Health Center IV pending postmortem.”

A water bottle the deceased was holding was recovered as an exhibit, according to Okema.

“This is a very unfortunate incident, but it could have been avoided if the relatives had kept a close eye on him. We now appeal to relatives of victims with such sickness to be very concerned about their movement to avoid such occurrences,” Okema implored.
