Kampala I The new data released by the Uganda Bureau of Statistics show that Karamoja and Busoga are the most fertile sub-regions at the moment.
Uganda is currently launching its Demographic Health Survey 2022 at the Statistics House in Kampala.
According to the survey, the fertility rate for women aged 15 to 49 stands at 5.2 per cent. In 2016, it stood at 5.4 per cent.
As of 2022, the fertility rate stood at 6.7 per cent in Karamoja and 5.7 per cent in Busoga, with Bunyoro coming third at 5.5 per cent.

The latest Uganda Demographic Health Survey reveals that family planning unmet needs are at 22 per cent, further revealing that at least 91 per cent of pregnant mothers now give birth at health centres across the country.
There is a reduction in maternal mortality rate from 336 per 100,000 live births in 2016 to 189 per 100,000 live birth at the moment.
Pregnancy mortality rate now stands at 228, per the same survey.
