Iceme, Oyam: On Monday 26, 2023, UPC candidate for Oyam North MP by-election Dr Apio Eunice Otuko with other party leaders received 20 registered supporters of the parallel opposition political party – National Unity Platform (NUP).
The NUP supporters crossed from Bobi Wine-led party to UPC under Jimmy Akena, also the Lira City East Division MP. The political crossover took place in Iceme sub-county.
Monday, June 26, was Dr Apio’s fourth day of the extensive campaign ahead of July 6, head-to-head voting to elect the new County MP.
Dr Apio painted Iceme sub-county red as supporters chant her name and UPC at the rally. Iceme sub-county is where the NRM candidate and son of the former MP and Minister, Okello Samuel Engola Junior come from.
“So far, there is massive support for the UPC candidate and she is receiving warm reception wherever she goes for campaigns,” Muzeyi Faizo, UPC head of media and communications told this digital publication.

“Dr Eunice Otuko Apio and team continue to traverse parishes in Iceme sub-county. On Tuesday, the team will be in Otwal and Aleka sub-counties as they mobilize electorates ahead of the Oyam North by-election slated for July 6, 2023,” Faizo added.
On June 24 in Acaba sub-county, 35 NRM supporters also crossed to UPC and all committed to mobilising voters and voting for the UPC candidate on July 6.
