The IWPG conference was held under the theme: “Let’s be echo of peace.”

The Global Region 12 of the World Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) Global Director Yeo Mi-Hyun said the conference was based on the 2023 IWPG slogan, “Strengthening Global Women’s Partnership for Sustainable Peace,” and “Women! The ‘Only Peace Conference’ was held under the theme of ‘Let’s be the echo of peace’.

Hosted and organized by the IWPG Jeonbuk Branch, the conference was held on February 24, 2023, at the Jeonbuk Women’s Education and Culture Center.

It was attended by 150 peace-loving sponsors and members, including Kim Hong-Ran, chairwoman of the South and North Hanaro Arts Group, Lee Kyu-Rae, and Shim Ui-Du, president of the Hangeul Globalization and Culture Foundation.

Starting with a pre-ceremony performance of the Hanaro Art Troupe and Arango Janggu, the event was greeted by Yeo Mi-Hyun, head of the branch, Chun Ri-Hyang of the Hongik Hyochung Cultural Center, a doctor of economics, and Ko Byung-Soo, chairman of the Gunsan Port Development Council.

Lee Gil-Rye, branch manager of Kyobo Life Insurance, said in a presentation, “What I do is to prepare for possible risks from health or disasters. “Peace begins when we do small things, not when someone brings it. Our small choices and courageous actions now can stop wars and conflicts,” he said.

Kim Hong-Ran, head of the North Korean defector Hanaro Art Troupe, who is chairwoman of the IWPG Peace Committee, took time to pledge to the World Women’s Peace Pledge by watching the brutality of the war and wishing for peace through the video of the shadow facade, waving the flag of the world and singing “Unification.”

Yeo Mi-Hyun, head of the branch, said: “We want peace. We must pass on a beautiful and peaceful world to our children and future generations from war and conflict. We have unlimited capabilities. If 3.9 billion women become one and love and communicate with each other and make it together, we can surely achieve a peaceful world and restore human rights in this era where we live. We should all be the messengers of peace.”

“Sustainable peace is the UN’s SDGs motto and IWPG will also work in line with this slogan as it said it will focus by 2030,” she said.
