Two hundred households of the vulnerable people in Lobanya parish, Kapeta sub-county in Abim district on Friday 13, 2023 received food relief from the Diocesan Development Services-North Karamoja (DDS-NK).

The donation was the last and was bought with funding from Mennonite Central Committee.

Each household received 50 kilograms of posho flour, 22 kilograms of sorghum flour, 14 kilograms of beans; 3 packets of table salt and two and half liters of cooking oil.

While handing over the foods to the beneficiaries, Simon Peter Ijala, the executive director of the Diocesan Development Service appealed to the beneficiaries to use the food sparingly since it is the last distribution.

Ijala called upon the beneficiaries to eat the food to get the energy for cultivating more. The donation, he said, should also prepare them for the coming season.

He further requested DDS-NK to construct more food stores for the people of Lobanya, adding that the support from the government and development partners might increase on harvests this year.

Betty Bobo, one of the directors of Mennonite Central Committee thanked DDS-NK for implementing the activities and cautioned the beneficiaries against selling off the food items they have received.
