“Pres. Museveni valued Dr. Moses Ebuk” – aide: VP Alupo expected to attend burial

Kampala – July 4, 2022: The burial programme of Dr. Moses Ebuk has been released. The former diplomat died on July 2, 2022, at around 5 am at Mulago National Referral Hospital where he was admitted for weeks. 

Ebuk was a Ugandan neurophysiologist, academic, and diplomat. Ebuk, a neurophysiologist, was also a lecturer in the College of Health Sciences at the Makerere University in Mulago.

The country’s former ambassador to Russia – according to the programme this publication has seen will be buried on Saturday, July 9.

The programme will run as follows:

  1. The last preparatory meeting in Kampala will take place at Kyaliwajjala, Kisosonkole Road before Kyaliwajjala trading center at the Jaro hospital turn (tarmac Road) on Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm. The official vigil is slated for Wednesday from 5 pm.
  2. On Thursday, July 7, 2022 – the funeral service at All Saints Cathedral Nakasero, Kampala from 10 am – 12 pm
  3. On Thursday, July 7, 2022, his casket will be taken home in Aber sub-county, at Corner Atapara Trading Centre, Oyam South.
  4. On Friday, July 8, 2022, vigil at the late’s home at Corner Atapara Trading center, Aber sub-county, Oyam South.
  5. On Saturday, July 9, 2022 – a burial will take place at his home at Corner Atapara, starting with prayers from 10 am.    

A source in government who preferred not to be named told this digital newspaper at the weekend that “President Museveni valued Dr. Ebuk for his diplomatic and medical expertise”, adding that the deceased will be dearly missed.

“The president is already aware of his death,” added the source. “Will the president go for his burial?” we asked, and this was the reply: “I’m not sure. Most likely, the Vice President Jessica Alupo will represent the President.”

An attempt to reach the office of the Vice President for confirmation has been unsuccessful.

Since Ebuk’s death three days ago, the President is yet to convey his condolences publicly [via his official social media handles] – like has been the case with other prominent Ugandans after dying.
