Agago: Female councillors recruited as porters

Five people whose names are on the waiting list from previous interviews to different posts are to wait a little more.

Agago – March 31, 2022: Out of fourteen [14] newly recruited porters in Agago district, three former female councillors have got the job after successful interviews.

 

In a message from the office of the secretary district service commission, Agago dated March 29, 2022, placed on the notice board, the three female councillors’ names appeared among the list of successful candidates.

 

Mary Akello, former councillor of Lira-kato, Akumu Rose Mary, former councillor of Parabongo and Kalongo and Aringo Hope Orach, who was also deputy speaker, Agago district have been recruited.

 

Rose Mary Akumu reveals that she decided to leave being a politician because she wants to get a pension from the government in the future after retirement.

 

She said politics is unpredictable.

 

Like Akumu, Mary Akello, expressed her excitement after realizing that she was recruited as a porter.

 

She said, “It’s a great achievement to become a porter rather than a political leader.”

 

Agago district local government also recruited more four clinical officers, 17 enrolled midwives, 18 enrolled Nurses, and 4 laboratory assistants.

 

It has also recruited 10 askaris. Five people whose names have been on the waiting list from previous interviews to different posts are considered.

 

The recruitment exercise was to fill up the human resource staffing gap in the district which was standing at 54% as of last year.
