Lira – March 17, 2022: The new leadership of the Acholi cultural student association (ACSA) was sworn in on Saturday, March 12, 2022.
The event took place at Uganda Christian Institute for Professional Development [UCIPD] in Lira City East.
Rwot Olara Geoffrey, former chairperson of the association handed over office to Emmanuel Komakech who is now the ‘Rwot’ or Chairperson of ACSA.
The former leaders include Colline Akello [finance], Francis Oroma prime minister [advisor], Oyoo Alex Okidi [speaker], Acan Mary [secretary], and others.
In attendance was the patron of the association, Solomon Okina; Principal of UCIPD David Edhaya.
The chief guest was Obalim Jefferson, chairperson of the Acholi community in Lango. Odongo Jimmy Francis represented Dean of Students.
Dozens of other guests attended the event.
Emmanuel Komakech, the New Rwot presented his cabinets and highlighted some of the issues they hope to work on during their term of service.
The issues include improving students’ welfare, academic performance and promoting Acholi culture.
The students expressed their pride that Acholi culture is recognized as one of the “best cultures among other cultures”.
Meanwhile, Jimmy Odong Francis who represented Dean of Students and Patron Okino Solomon, urged the students to have a high sense of commitment, live exemplary lives as leaders and develop relevant good time management skills.
He asked them to balance their roles in leadership and their academics.
Odong also encouraged students of their academic responsibility and to have a profession with integrity if they want to grow.
Jefferson Obalim, the chairperson of the Acholi community in Lango and Chief Guest at the ceremony, urged the students to excel academically and have discipline.
