Pader, March 12, 2022 | The education department in Pader district has reported that 10 of the 30 community primary schools submitted to the Ministry of Education and Sports for coding have been granted codes.

The schools are to start operating as government-aided after a long endurance from parents.

The community primary schools coded include Lukome in Lapul sub-county, Okworoin Bongtiko sub-county, Ogwil in Pader sub-county, and others.

Daniel Oloya, secretary for education in Bongtiko sub-county applauded the government for coding schools and added that they should help the schools with at least two teachers to support education.

Peter Bosco Alli, Lapul sub-county chairperson, stated that there are several challenges that community primary schools are facing.

Among which he said are paying salary to teachers, negative attitude from parents towards non-government aided schools, and others.

He urged the government to intervene where necessary to help locals attain a sustainable life through education.

Meanwhile, David Komakech Lam, Pader district secretary for education confirmed the coding of the 10 schools, saying that they are following up with the remaining 20 pending coding.

He added that the district local government has put up structures in schools to support education in 2018.

This comes after the education ministry resumed coding of community primary schools as communicated by the assistant commissioner of Primary Education, Dr Mukasa Lusambu.

Last year during a courtesy call to Nwoya town council, he told the authorities later at Nwoya district headquarters.

“Before we cord any school, we must be sure that there is sufficient money that can pay for teachers’ salaries, buy scholastic materials, the capitation grants and also money for the infrastructure, among others. It is the mandate of the government to provide them,” Lusambu said, then.
